Zill Kartay and Lok Durd Playing Chess by Tryphosa20 Zill Kartay and Lok Durd Playing Chess by Tryphosa20
So, :iconkweh-chan:, I still can't get over how awesome it must be to have an official SW character named after you! As congratulations from me, I've drawn for you: Zill Kartay, your newest Neimoidian. Cheerleader  . I'm really happy for you and I really hope I did a fair job at capturing his unique likeness Happy Clap .

At first I really only had the intention of doing you a portrait but since Zill has next to no established character I thought made I should draw him engaging in some sort of activity. I can't tell much from his appearance, but he seemed to me that he might be the cultured type? With a taste for fine things (lol, like all Neimoidians of course) and an appreciation for nature (wood, plants)--and always looking for ways to improve and better himself. Of course I needed a character for him play chess with so I threw in Lok Durd. Now it seems they have sort of an odd unlikely friendship (though I'm pretty sure Durd would rather be "ransacking some dung-heep" ;P)

I used your Neimoidian reference sheets for the coloring, they were a big help. I was too lazy to look up a lot of appropriate textures for downloading, so I created everything myself, with a bit of extra help for the wood. I apologize that the chess board is unfortunately sideways. I was trying so hard to get the gameplay right (I used a ref image) that I didn't notice I was placing all the pieces from a side view, that's why all the brown pieces are on the right side ^^;. Ehh, it's just a more complicated game now.

The background of Cato Neimoidia was killer. Rocks and mist are not my forte. It was the last thing I colored. Actually when I first started coloring, I did the background first but I hated it so much I scraped it and decided to tackle it when it was the last thing to do. I like it much better now. Some images I looked up on google showed the planet with the swinging cities in a rocky environment and others were more lush green. I really enjoyed the scenic lush-green Rainforest look so I adapted it for your picture, it seemed to be more suitable than the peach colored rock towers.

Anyways, congratulations again! I really hope you enjoy this.  Hug emoticon :balloon:

Why is this hilarious? XD  Maybe because Lok Durd is voiced by George Takei, who is Mr. Sulu in the original Star Trek series.  I'm a Trekkie as well as a Star Wars fan!<3

He is.  And I'm gonna see him tomorrow at a theater!  I'm going to go a sci fi concert special assuming we get the freaking tickets!

Great!  George was hilarious!  He said, "Your weathermen obviously don't know what warm is.  They said it was going to be warm today, but when I see this white stuff on the ground, it ain't warm."
The concert was amazing, too.  The conductor said that he was going to play a song, saying, "This song is not in your programs, but I believe that it is one of the greatest songs ever in the genre of sci fi."
He played the A New Hope cantina song. XD
